The details.

How we vet remodelers
Remodelers coordinate plumbers and electricians, so on top of registration, insurance, references and a visit to a finished remodel, we check that licensed trades do the licensed work. The full Standard →
When to book
Year-round. Good remodelers book months out, so plan early and order long-lead items like cabinets and windows before demolition.
Across the Valley
Older homes in Boise and Nampa often hide surprises behind the walls, so leave room in the budget. Newer homes in Meridian and Eagle more often need upgrades than repairs.
Red flags.
If you hear any of these from a firm, keep looking.
- No written scope or change-order process
- Does plumbing or electrical work without licensed trades
- A payment schedule that runs ahead of the work
Common questions.
Do I need a permit for a remodel?
If you’re moving walls, plumbing, electrical or gas, almost certainly. Cosmetic work like cabinets and paint usually doesn’t.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Often six to twelve weeks of work once materials are on site, and longer if the layout or permits change.
Should I hire a designer first?
For layout changes, it helps. For like-for-like updates, a good remodeler can plan it with you.
