About the Guild

A list for the people who live here.

The Treasure Valley has grown fast, and so have the firms that serve it. Most directories that rank those firms are paid by the firms. The HomeGuild is a list of Treasure Valley contractors that each have to pass a Standard first, and nobody can pay their way onto it.

Why it exists

Every other list sells the top spot.

Lead-generation directories sell the same inquiry to as many contractors as will pay for it. Review sites sell "featured" placement. Neighborhood apps bury honest recommendations under sponsored ones. None of them will ever phone your references or walk your finished job.

So we built the version we wanted as homeowners: a Standard that doesn't bend, checked locally, and at most two vetted firms per job. Firms pay only for an introduction, never for a listing or a ranking.

Bylaws, in brief

The rules we can't change quietly.

The full bylaws are available to members. These are the clauses that protect the register from us.

§1No firm can pay for listing, placement, or review. Firms pay only when we introduce them to a member who asked for their trade.
§2Every step of the Standard is checked by the Guild, never self-certified by the firm.
§3Removals are published to members with the reason, in the same words the firm received.
§4Per-trade caps may only be raised by a vote of members, not by the Guild.
§5Any change to the Standard is announced to members ninety days before it takes effect.
§6A member's details go only to the firms for a job that member asked about, and never to more than two.
Press & contact

Ask us anything except who's on the list.

We'll talk about the Standard, the removal process, and what we've learned about the Valley's trades. We won't give reporters a firm's file — that belongs to members.
